I have a younger brother, but as of four years ago, I had four new sister-in-laws (on my husbands side) to shop for and no idea what to purchase for them. Shopping for sisters was a new territory for me, but I always thought that buying for them was similar to buying for myself. My sister-in-laws are unique and all live in different parts of the world. I always make sure their presents are manageable in price, but hold meaning.
27 Best & Unique Gifts for Sister-in-Laws
One thing my sister-in-laws and myself have in common is our love for drinking coffee and tea. While I’m a collector of different coffee mugs, one unique gift would be a scripted coffee cup. This 20 oz mug reads “sister-in-law; love brought us together as a family, and we continued as friends. This gift is sentimental and will always be something they’ll remember.
Every year, all of us take a family vacation, which requires long travel. While I was sitting here wracking my brain on what to get, I thought of a personalized luggage tag. Finding your luggage in an airport sometimes can be so stressful, especially if many on your flight have the same kind of baggage. This tag comes in 15 different designs and can become personalized to fit your needs. It offers the look of genuine leather and not nearly the price.
This letter board collage can display your favorite saying that holds deep to your sister-in-law’s heart. The frame holds four 4×6-photos, two 6×4-photos, and two 4×4-inch photos. The letter board itself in the center comes with 144 black letters for various customizations. This frame makes a thoughtful gift for any type of occasion, and one of your sister-in-laws can cherish to remember special moments.
One of my go-to gifts is always jewelry. Women love jewelry, and I’ve always felt that jewelry with meaning is one of the best gifts. The quote on the box reads, “the only thing better than having you as a sister-in-law is having you as a friend.” This necklace will be wrapped in a gift box, and is 925 sterling silver, with high-quality white-gold plating. Jewelry is one of those gifts that they can carry with them every day.
Sister-in-Law Birthday Gifts
5. Gift Baskets
If you’re looking for something convenient and already put together, gift baskets are a great birthday gift. This gift basket comes with a ceramic stone coaster, one glass, five funny bottle stoppers, two pairs of odd socks, and a tote bag. My sister-in-laws are collectors of funny socks, so when I saw this, I immediately put it on my go-to list for gifts for this year!
6. Trinket Dish
For those of us who wear rings, earrings, or necklaces, you know that finding the ideal space to store them without having them lost can sometimes be frustrating. This trinket dish becomes crafted from glazed ceramic with a sentiment written in the middle that says, “A true friendship is a journey without an end.” Since I’m an only child, I’ve always considered my sister-in-laws my ACTUAL sisters. This trinket dish would be exemplary for holding your rings in the bathroom before you get a shower, or in the kitchen before you do the dishes.
I don’t know about you, but I could receive a blanket for every occasion, and I would accept it every single time! I’ve always been a homebody, introverted, you can say, and I’m all about comfort. Living in the northern states where it is colder for most of the year, I’m always looking for that model warm blanket. My sister-in-laws live even further north, so it’s colder for them. This Sherpa blanket comes in three different color options, is super soft, made of high-quality Sherpa material, and is the perfect comfort gift.
With life being so technology-based, I think a lot of us forget how necessary journaling can be for our mental health. I came across this vintage leather journal and thought it would be a fantastic gift that my sister-in-laws could write down their daily activities, dreams, etc. This journal has 300 pages of writing and a leather tie cord strap that can close your diary and keep it in place. For those who love to write or sketch, this would be a gift they wouldn’t be expecting.
With all of us having busy lives, I can see where it could be hard to make sure that you’re drinking enough water each day. I know in the chaos of motherhood I’m so busy taking care of other people, I often forget to keep up on my water intake. This water bottle infuser comes in six different color options and has a premium design that will allow your fruit to become submerged longer.
I’ve looked around at different options, but this one seems to hold more fruit than the ordinary bottles that are available. It also will filter out the seeds, so if you’re drinking a detox lemon water, the built-in strainer will filter those seeds out without getting into your bottle. This bottle is made of BPA-free plastic and is eco-friendly.
As I mentioned earlier, gift boxes are a convenient gift if you’re struggling with what to buy. With this custom birthday gift box, you’ll have fourteen different options to choose from that include any of the following: massage candle, bubble bath, bath bomb, bubble bath scoops, and handmade goat milk soap.
11. Kimono Robe
When I’m shopping for my sister-in-laws, it’s just like I’m shopping for myself because all of us love the same things, which makes it easier when occasions roll around. Another go-to comfort gift of mine is bathrobes. This robe comes in sixteen different color options to choose from, is comfortable, and lightweight. She can use this robe after a warm bath to conserve body heat for a relaxing night.
Under $25 Gifts
This bracelet is an essential oil diffuser meant to ease anxiety. Both of my sister-in-laws are nurses, so they work long stressful hours, often leading them to be stressed when they come home. With this bracelet, you can drop your favorite essential oil in it to clam your emotions, relieve tension, or to relieve stress due to busy workdays. It is lightweight and comes with an adjustable band, and is also hypoallergenic and anti-fading.
My sister-in-laws host many parties when we go up to visit. They’re the ones who are always in the kitchen getting food ready, making drinks, whatever it is, they handle it. This engraved cutting board would make for the complete birthday gift. This cutting board is paddle-shaped and can become customized according to your specifications. If they love to cook, this is the gift you want to grab!
This mini waffle maker is good to make waffles, paninis, hash browns, and other breakfast or lunch items. I found this deal on Amazon, and I couldn’t pass it up. In the morning, when you need something quick and easy to make, this is always my go-to. It’s compact and lightweight, only weighing one pound. All you have to do is plug it in, and it heats up in a quick three minutes. My favorite thing about this appliance is that it doesn’t take up much counter space.
15. Egg Cooker
Another one of my favorite appliances that make for an exceptional gift is this six-capacity electric egg cooker. This egg cooker gives you five different color options. This appliance is versatile and can make hard-boiled, soft boiled, poached, or scrambled eggs. Included will be a 1-year manufacturer warranty, a poaching tray, omelet tray, six-egg holder tray, measuring cup, and recipe book. You’re getting a bang for your buck on this one!
16. Lunch Tote Bag
Since both of my sister-in-laws are both nurses, now and then, I’ll pick them up a new lunch bag. I’m personally a collector of lunch bags because they can be very expressive to your personality. This tote comes in twelve different designs and color options. It’s stylish and great for taking to work to fit your lunch, snacks, or fruits. It has a front pocket feature that can also hold your napkins, utensils, or your phone.
One go-to gift that you can never go wrong with is skincare. Almost every woman would be happy receiving any type of skincare for any occasion. This three-item skincare set comes with a moisturizing body wash, positively radiant brightening daily scrub, and regular moisturizing lotion. I love Aveeno’s line because it helps replenish your skin’s natural moisture. I have sensitive skin, and items with too much fragrance make my skin irritated, so I’ve always preferred this line.
Okay, so don’t knock me here, but I believe every woman should have one of these wherever they go. This hand tool set comes in five different color options and is equipped with 39 pieces. This kit comes with tools that are perfect for any basic DIY projects or repairs. I’ve used this box to hang pictures, open boxes, and tighten screws. It comes with a claw hammer, slip joint pliers, tape measure, utility knife, bit driver and 20-bit sizes, eight hex keys, and a pair of scissors. I love that it comes in an organized case, so I don’t have to worry about losing any pieces.
I’ve always been a coffee person, but both of my sister-in-laws prefer tea to coffee. When I came across this set, I thought it would be a great idea instead of just picking up assortments from the grocery store. This forty-eight count variety box comes with a variety of teas such as English breakfast, earl grey, decaffeinated breakfast, lemon & orange, pure Assam, green tea with jasmine, organic peppermint, and organic chamomile. Variety packs will include six different tea bags of each variety.
20. Shower Steamers
To be honest, I never heard of shower steamers until last year. This variety pack comes with six different shower steamers. This set only uses pure essential oils and gives the benefits of aromatherapy. Different scents included are lavender, eucalyptus, vanilla, watermelon, grapefruit, and peppermint. At night when I take my shower, I love to use lavender scented shower steamers because it helps me relax and sleep better at night.
Christmas & Holiday Gifts for Sister-in-Laws
We’ve been slowly transitioning to not using candles and other scents in my home. I suffer from severe sinuses, as do my sister-in-laws, so it took me a while to find essential oils that were right for me. This essential oil bundle set comes with six different scents. Included are lavender, eucalyptus, orange sweet, peppermint, lemongrass, and tea tree. Plant Therapy has high-quality oils and goes through multiple rounds of testing.
I’ve looked around for diffusers that have a large water tank and found this one to be one of the highest. This oil diffuser features a 500ml water tank, along with an auto-off switch to prevent overheating, a critical safety feature to me that every diffuser MUST have. Along with essential oil use, this diffuser also works as a humidifier that covers the smell of pets or seasonal allergies. The diffuser makes for a great gift for those who like to use all-natural products.
I believe every woman MUST own a high-quality hair straightener. When you buy the right one, it could last you for YEARS and save you money. This ceramic hair straightener works on the frizziest of hair and can straighten, curl, and flip to give you a variety of hairstyles. The adjustable temperature ranges from 150-450 degrees to achieve the perfect sleek look. This flat iron comes with a one year warranty, and it is great to take on traveling trips.
If you talk to any woman, they’ll tell you how hard it is to unwind after a stressful day at work. Most of us can’t afford to keep up on monthly massages, so this is the next best thing. This stimulated hand kneading massage helps with relieving knots with an optional heat therapy mode. It comes with three adjustable intensities and can become customized for your whole body, neck, shoulder, back, waist, legs, and to relieve muscle pains. My favorite feature is the automatic turn-off function to ensure safe massages.
As I mentioned prior, I’m all about comfort, and so are my sister-in-laws. In my opinion, you can never go wrong with a pair of slippers. If you’re having a hard time deciding on a gift, they’re always the “play it safe, but cute” gift. These memory foam slippers come in four different color options and feature breathable cotton, along with warm fur lining for your feed. During those cold winter months, they will enhance the warmth and comfort of your feet. My favorite feature with this slipper is that it comes with a non-slip sole that some don’t have. If you have hardwood floors in your home, you don’t have to worry about sliding or slipping.
If your sister-in-laws ever complain about falling asleep at night, this is always my go-to. Dr. Teal’s bubble bath with lavender will soothe your sore muscles and body. It has the benefit of essential oils that have been known to help you relax your mind, and to promote a better night of sleep. I poured this into my bath the other night, along with Epsom salt, and afterwards I was asleep in fifteen minutes. It’s a game-changer and MUST HAVE!
One of the first things we do in the morning is wake up and make a cup of coffee. In our home, we always used to have a Keurig coffee maker until I found out how much mold can build up on the inside. Even when you think you’re cleaning it well, there’s still mold build-up deeper inside the machine.
The stainless steel ninja coffee maker has different custom brew strengths. To clean, all you need to do is add white vinegar to the water reservoir, fill the rest up with water, and hit the clean button. The unsoiled feature is one of my favorite features because it provides thorough cleaning without having to take the whole coffee maker apart.
My advice when shopping for your sister-in-law is to keep it simple and thoughtful. Most of the time, when I’m out hunting for a gift for them, I pretend that I’m shopping for myself. Once I pick out a gift that I like, I ask, “would this gift provide any meaning?” If you can knock out both of those steps in your gift search, you’ll be good to go. Women are the easy ones to shop for; it’s the men you have to worry about!
