There is only one island, but two different territories and two different spellings: Sint Maarten of the Netherlands on the southern half and Saint Martin of France on the northern half. The southern half speaks Dutch, and the northern, French. The island, in total, is fairly small at 37 square miles. It’s located just east of the British and US Virgin Islands in the Caribbean. The Dutch side is the party side with casinos, nightlife, and the famous Maho Beach. In the northern French half, you’ll find more shopping, nude beaches, and delicious food.
No matter which half (or both) you visit, the island is beautiful year-round. The weather is consistent, tropical, and beautiful.
